Class Jobs
It takes lot of people to make a successful classroom. Here are some jobs that you can apply for in my class:

Teachers Aide: At any given time the TA may be responsible for any of the below jobs or may help supervise the below listed jobs. Teachers Aides will also be responsible for alphabetizing and grading SOME types of work in my class.

Attendance: This student will help Mr. Guiles take attendance by checking the seating chart and letting Mr. Guiles know who is absent. This person will always TELL Mr. Guiles the results so that Mr. Guiles can double check. Student must have an S or O in citizenship and have at least a 2.5 grade average.

Chair Monitor: This person will help keep track of who gets to see in the swivel chair and the padded chair. Each day of the week the chair must rotate to someone that hasn’t used it before. Once everyone has had a chance to sit in the chair, we start over.

Class Librarian: Class librarian helps organize my books and magazines, keeps them in order and neat, and also reminds any students who have checked out a book if it becomes overdue. Class librarian also lets students know which books can and can’t be checked out. For example, hard cover books usually stay in class for all to read (unless you ask Mr. Guiles and he says ok). All softcover novels may be checked out. Magazines must stay in the class and graphic novels (like Bone) must stay in the room.

Computer Cleaning (once a week, 6th Period): Help keep the keyboards and screen clean. The last day of each week this students (or students) will help clean the screens and keyboards. This may also involve using the air spray to clean the dust from the back of the computers. Student must have an S or O in citizenship and have at least a 2.5 grade point average.

End of Day Shut Down: This period 6 student will stay a minute AFTER the class leaves and make sure all computers are actually off. You can check by moving your head close to the computer and listening for the sound of the hard drive…or you can check the light. Make sure all computers are turned off and that the computer area is clean and in order.

Keyboard&Mouse Check: This person will make sure that headhpones are placed in the proper jack (the HEADPHONE jack) at the end of the period. They will also make sure that the keyboards and mice are placed in order for each section.

Lights: Student should be someone who sits within 3 or 4 computers lengths of the light switches. Student will learn which lights Mr. Guiles expects to have turned on or off at any given time. Must be able to do this quickly without distracting or bothering others.

Teacher Computer Repair Assistant: Be on duty to help other teachers with simple tasks on the computer. Student must be very comfortable with the Windows XP environment and must be a good follower of instructions.

Paper Distributor: This student will be someone who arrives to class earlier than others and can hand out the papers quickly. It would be good if this person developed a system for collecting the papers so that it will be easy to pass them out each day.
